Security National Breaks Ground on Class A Community in Sandy

Sandy Civic Center Area Welcomes Phase One of New Mixed-Use TOD

SALT LAKE CITY --December 13, 2013-- Security National Financial Corporation (NASDAQ: SNFCA) has broken ground on a 282 unit apartment community adjacent to the UTA TRAX Sandy Civic Station. The community represents the first phase of the company’s planned 40 acre mixed-use, transit-oriented development.

“We are very pleased that Security National has been able to design a development that works well for the property and adds to the city’s endeavor for new development in our Civic Center Area,” said Sandy City Mayor Tom Dolan. “Residents of the community will be close to the home of several corporate headquarters and some of the best retailing and restaurants in the country.”

Dry Creek at East Village will feature three levels of class A apartment living space on top of one level of underground parking. Specialized workout rooms and lounges, a resort style pool and jacuzzi, a state-of-the-art clubhouse with a demonstration kitchen, and a private theater will complement direct connections to miles of hiking and biking trails, and UTA TRAX.

“Great care and effort has been spent during the design phase of this project to ensure that there is a seamless connection for the resident living in Dry Creek at East Village,” said Bryce Baker, managing director of corporate real estate for Security National. “Mobility to every aspect has been enhanced.”

Security National has owned the ground since 1991 and will continue to own and operate the existing cemetery and mortuary. Rimrock Construction and Beecher Walker Architects were hired to design and build the community and Alliance Residential Management will be the on-site manager. Dry Creek at East Village is slated to open its first building in the summer of 2014 and will be the first completed project under Sandy City’s new 30-Year Vision Plan.
